Get excited: Curaçao is having its first Fashion Week!

Curaçao will host its inaugural Fashion Week next month – May 21-25, 2012 to be exact – and we’re kinda excited about it.  In fact, in our exuberance, we got to thinking about the things that make us yearn for a little bit of that Curaçao Fashion Week action…

Willemstad (above), Curaçao’s capital, has been way ahead on the colour-blocking trend… We see you Willemstad.

Speaking of Willemstad, we’re a little eager to wrap our tongues around names like Schottegat, Pietermaai and De Ruyterkade.  It’s the closest our tongues will get to Amsterdam this year and we have a feeling there’s a whole lot of good in that prospect…

Also, the designer line up is pretty decent.  The week of shows will feature Curaçao native David Paulus, London-based (and Tobago’s own) Romero Bryan, London-based designer Francesca Marotta, Canadian swimwear line Aqua di Lara, Brooklyn-based jewellery line Adha Zelma, Trinidad’s Gerard Perry, and Andrew Harris out of Guyana, to name a few.

Oh, and most of the shows will happen at the Hyatt Regency Curaçao. ‘Nough said.

What The Frock?!

Tobago Fashion Weekend seems to be leaning more toward a menswear-inspired vibe with its Cazak, Frock and Suspenders theme, so here’s a little edit on how things could go this weekend. Sure, you can stick to the staples: ...
